Cheech & Eatsa

The name of this bourbon cocktail isn’t meant to be reminiscent of Mexican flavors, but instead of my aunt. Her nickname was Cheech. My family always spent holidays at her home, where we’d snack on all kinds of nibbles—which is why this includes some little eats. She would regale us with her travel stories, which gave me the travel bug. The last one I remember from her was about her trip to Mexico, including seeing incredible ancient cities.

In remembrance of her, that story, and the meals we would have I made the Cheech & Eatsa with bourbon, butter toffee pecan syrup, fig puree, Amontillado, a touch of orange juice, walnut bitters, and a pinch of salt. I really did love her stories—Cheech and every one.
